Halloween Activities in and near Fort Morgan

With its fascinating history and sleepy nature, the Fort Morgan and Gulf Shores area is a great place to celebrate the scariest night of the year. From “trunk-or-treating,” to ghost stories, to a corn maze, you’ll have your choice of Fort Morgan Halloween activities this October.

Here are some top events to check out while spending your holiday at vacation rentals near Gulf Shores, Alabama.

Who Haunts the Fort

On October 17 and 20, take a guided tour of the darker side of Fort Morgan.

These hour-long guided tours give visitors a window into the fort’s bloody history and accounts of paranormal activity. Listen as your interpreter weaves their story, telling guests about the known deaths and burials at Mobile Point in the 1800s.

With stories of the lingering spirits of the slaves who built the fort, prisoner hangings, and unidentifiable cries, the tour is bound to send a Halloween-worthy chill down your spine.

Be sure to bring your own flashlight. The fee is $12 per person.

BooLu’s at LuLu’s in Gulf Shores

A popular restaurant with a reputation for throwing a good seasonal party, BooLu’s at LuLu’s is one of the Gulf Shores Halloween events you don’t want to miss.

The highlight of BooLu’s is the “trunk-or-treat,” where volunteers deck out their cars with cobwebs, gravestones, and skeletons and costume-clad children trick-or-treat from trunk to trunk.

Be sure to come in your best Halloween garb, as there will be a costume party with categories by age. Also expect pumpkin decorating, crafts, inflatables, and live music.

The event takes place on October 27, the Saturday before Halloween.

Magnolia Corn Maze

Throughout the month of October, test your sense of direction at the Magnolia Corn Maze, just a half-an-hour north of Gulf Shores.

Run through the long stalks of corn, feed a llama at the petting zoo, ride on a tractor, and drive open-air go-karts for a day of fall fun.

They also have zombie paintball, pony rides, and a playground suitable for all ages. This favorite festival has been running for a decade, this year celebrating its 10th anniversary.

Have a birthday party or field trip coming up? They can help you host it, offering fun activities for kids of all ages.

Boo at Bellingrath

One of the best kid-friendly things to do, this Halloween event is great for the whole family. Dress up in your favorite spooky costume – ghost, goblin, or ghoul – and come enjoy a day of eerie Halloween fun.

The Bellingrath Gardens opens its doors this October 27 for a Halloween party on its beautiful grounds. Expect spooky decorations, inflatable castles, and treats and trinkets for sale.

There will also be a live music performance in the Gardens’ courtyard, and a variety of food trucks and stands. Purchase of a ticket – $13 for adults, $7.50 for kids ages 5 to 12 – allows you to explore the gardens for the day.

The Gardens are located on the other side of Mobile Bay. You can drive the hour-and-a-half route around the bay through the city of Mobile, or take your car on the ferry from Fort Morgan to Dauphin Island and drive north up the coast.

The Crucible on Stage

Join the South Baldwin Community Theatre in Gulf Shores for an eerie night of witchcraft and mystery as they present The Crucible.

This story combines a good mystery with a controversial chapter of American history: the Puritan purge of witchcraft in Salem, MA. Follow the story of a couple accused of witchcraft by a young servant girl, and the trials that ensue.

Shows begin at 7:30 p.m. most evenings between October 19 and 27, with matinees on Sunday afternoons. The box office opens for ticket purchase 10 days prior to show. Don’t miss this spooky performance – right in time for Halloween.
